Privacy policy
Who we are
ExpLife is an app for logging hobbies, exercise, sports and events and earning points and badges for them. It is run by Adam Frazier ("we"), 718 N 7th, Beatrice, NE 68310. This policy covers the ExpLife apps for iOS and Android and the website explifeplus.com.
Questions: devnua@gmail.com.
What we collect
We collect only what you enter in the app, plus a short record of each check-in. We don't collect your contacts, photos, advertising ID or a history of where you've been.
| Data | What it is |
|---|---|
| Account | Your email address and password. The password is stored only as a secure hash. |
| Year of birth | Asked once when you start, to check you're old enough to use ExpLife. |
| Activities | What you log: the kind of activity, its name, how long it took, your notes and when it happened. |
| Gear | Items you add to your inventory: name, kind, brand, barcode, how you added it and when you stopped using it. |
| Check-ins | The venue, the event if one was on, whether you used a gate code, how far you were from the venue in metres and how accurate your phone's reading was. Not your coordinates. |
| Failed check-ins | The reason a check-in didn't count (such as "too far"), so we can limit repeated attempts. |
| Consent records | Which version of this policy you agreed to, and when. |
| Service logs | Your IP address and basic device and app details, in request logs our hosting provider keeps for a short time. |
How we use it
We use your data to run ExpLife for you, and for nothing else.
- To provide the app: store what you log so it follows you across devices, and work out your streaks, points, levels and badges.
- To verify check-ins: confirm you were at a venue, and stop people from faking check-ins or guessing gate codes.
- To keep your account working: send sign-up confirmations and password resets, and keep the service secure.
Where data protection law asks for a legal basis, we rely on providing the service you signed up for, and on our legitimate interest in keeping it secure and fair. We'll ask for your consent before using your data for anything new.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. ExpLife has no ads and no third-party tracking, and the website uses no cookies or analytics.
We use three service providers. They handle data only on our instructions.
| Provider | What they do | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Hosts our database and handles sign-in | United States (US East) |
| Resend | Sends account emails, such as sign-up confirmations | United States |
| Netlify | Hosts the explifeplus.com website, and keeps standard web server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) | United States |
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to a buyer if ExpLife is sold. If that happens, this policy will still apply to your data.
We plan to add offers from sponsors such as brands and teams. Before we share anything with a sponsor, even anonymous statistics, we'll update this policy and ask for your consent in the app.
Location and camera
ExpLife asks for your location and camera only when you use the feature that needs them. You can turn either off in your phone's settings and keep using the rest of the app.
- Location: read once, only when you choose to check in at a venue as you log an activity. We work out how far you were from the venue and keep that distance, not your coordinates. ExpLife never tracks your location in the background.
- Camera: used to scan the barcode on gear you add. Only the barcode number is kept; the camera image isn't stored or uploaded.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, we delete it straight away. Copies in our hosting provider's backups expire within 7 days. Service logs are kept by our providers for a short time and then deleted.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account and everything in it at any time.
- In the app, open the Account tab and tap Delete account.
- Confirm. Your account is deleted at once and you're signed out.
This permanently removes your email address, year of birth, activities, gear, check-ins and consent records. It can't be undone.
If you can't use the app, email devnua@gmail.com from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. We'll do it within 30 days and confirm by email.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it for a purpose you agreed to. Email devnua@gmail.com and we'll reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act give you these rights. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
We don't sell or share personal information as the California law defines those words, so there's nothing to opt out of.
Children
ExpLife is for people 13 and older. We ask for your year of birth when you start. If you're under 13, we delete the account straight away. If you think a child under 13 has an account, email devnua@gmail.com and we'll delete it.
Security
Data travels between the app and our servers encrypted. Each account can read only its own data, which the database enforces. Check-ins are decided on our servers, so the app can't mark one as verified.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored in the United States. If you use ExpLife from elsewhere, your data is transferred there, with the safeguards our providers offer for international transfers.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your data, the app will ask you to agree again before you carry on.
